Unfortunately,Dr. MartinSeason 10 is the final series of Martin Clunes' hit drama. So it will be bittersweet for fans when the show returns to ITV in Autumn 2022, ending with a Christmas special.

Set in the Cornwall village of Portwenn, the drama has been a regular fixture on ITV programming since 2004 and is popular across the world, from Spain and Italy to Scandinavia and Australia.

Martin pursuedwho the grumpy Dr. Martin Ellingham, who has worked for almost two decades, says: "I was happy to go to Cornwall to do somethingDr. Martinfor the last 18 years and look forward to returning to this beautiful county this year for the tenth and final series. The people of Cornwall and Port Isaac in particular have always been very helpful to us when we were doing the show.

"We have great stories for the new series and for the Christmas special, I hope soDr. Martinfans will love it. I will miss Cornwall and all the lovely people we worked with. But the time has come to say goodbye to Doc and Portwenn.

Caroline Catz, who again plays Martin's wife Louisa Ellingham, says, "The last reading was emotional," says C. "I'm having a hard time saying goodbye. I will miss Cornwall and all the lovely people we worked with," adds Martin. "But it's the right time to say goodbye to Doc and Portwenn.

Season 10 premiere date of Doc Martin

Dr. MartinPremieres on ITV on Wednesday September 7 at 9pm as a big part ofautumn television2022 schedule, with the Christmas special coming to ITV in December. This is an eight episode series.

Doctor MartinsSeason 10 will be released in the US on Monday October 17thBolota-TV.

There is also a commemorative documentary about the history ofDr. Martinto accompany the final series, but a date for that has yet to be confirmed. The "last hurray" Christmas special is coming in December 2022 and will be aChristmas TVMain emphasis.

Storyline of the 10th season of Doc Martin

At the end of the last series ofDr. MartinIn 2019, after having his medical career under scrutiny from the General Medical Council due to his blood phobia, the doctor decided he would step down as Portwenn's general practitioner. In this final series of Doc Martin, Doc struggles to overcome his phobia and begins to wonder if he made the right decision in retiring. He and his wife Louisa also welcomed a baby daughter, Mary Elizabeth, a four-year-old sister of James Henry, so we think her home will be pretty noisy on this series.

As Louisa pursues her new career as a child counselor at her former practice, the Doc literally stays behind and holds the baby and indulges in his hobby of fixing clocks at the kitchen table. But does he really want his old job back?

"The Doc quit last series and when we started the new season he was left with the baby - literally! – because he and Louisa had a second child, daughter Mary Elizabeth,” explains Martin Clunes. "He's starting to wonder if he made the right decision in retiring!"

There was also some new footage of Martin standing next to a car on the edge of a cliff! It's unclear what exactly happens in the scene, but there's also a shot of a woman at the bottom of the cliff.

Caroline Catz also returns to play Doc Martin's wife, Louisa Ellingham, who has resigned as principal at the local school to pursue a new career in child counseling. Other returning regulars include Dame Eileen Atkins, who plays Doc Martin's impressive Aunt Ruth. Ian McNeice is back to play Bert Large, with Joe Absolom as his son Al. John Marquez reprises his role as PC Joe Penhale, Jessica Ransom is Morwenna Newcross, the doctor's assistant, and Selina Cadell is the local pharmacist, Mrs Tischel.

Episode 1: Wednesday September 7th
The Doc is no longer Portwenn's GP and spends his time with his four-year-old son James Henry and their newborn daughter Elizabeth Mary. He also spends time fixing clocks, reading medical journals, rearranging the kitchen and quietly driving Ms. Louisa (Caroline Catz) to despair! "We stopped firing Doc because he was about to be voted out! He's twiddling his thumbs this early in the series," laughs Martin Clunes, who has played the snappy surgeon since 2004. "Louisa moved into his office as she is a practicing child therapist." Elsewhere, Morwenna (Jessica Ransom), the Doc's former receptionist, is happily married to Al Large (EastEnders' Joe Absolom), but things get complicated when her father Bert (Ian McNeice) invites him to stay... on your wedding day! Doc supporter and local pharmacist Mrs Tishall (Selina Cadell) has started a petition to have him reinstated, while the impressive Aunt Ruth (Eileen Atkins) of the Docs works with him to overcome his blood phobia. But it's the appearance of poor mother Abigail (Cold Feet's Fay Ripley) that compels him to return to medicine. "Abigail has a disease that only he can recognize and fix it,” reveals Martin.

Episode 2: Wednesday September 14th
The Doc is back where he belongs, behind his desk barking orders, but life in Portwenn is still not back to normal! to the task of managing two groups of patients. Elsewhere, Doc's former receptionist, Morwenna, begins to dawn on her new career as a real estate agent isn't all she seems. "It's not a job she likes because the boss Samantha annoys her - although Morwenna is very good at it," explains Jessica Ransom, who has played Morwenna since 2011.
But when Max unexpectedly disappears and the Doc needs Morwenna's help, she temporarily returns to her old job to help. Will the grumpy GP realize that Morwenna is essential and invite her over permanently?
"Morwenna is finally back in her rightful place working for the Doc," reveals Jessica. "But she's making him work for it—she's not just going to bow to him!"

Episode 3: Wednesday September 21st
Ben MillerReturns to Doc Martin as eccentric parking lot attendant Stewart James, seemingly trying to convince cops Joe Penhale (John Marquez) and Al Large (Joe Absolom) to test his new survival course. Steward. We've seen him at various stages, including when he was living on Bodmin Moor and hallucinating a giant squirrel!” laughs Ben, 56, who played him for the first time in 2004 and again in 2005. "Every time Stewart comes back you think he's fine, but then he loses control."
At the GP, the Doc is alarmed by the results of Stewart's annual physical. Meanwhile, at the remote camp in the woods, Stewart is behaving erratically and has taken a hostage! Can Doc clear things up?

Episode 4: Wednesday 28 September
The Doc has his job ahead of him thanks to herbal healer Jane endangering patients, chemist Mrs Tishell interfering in his treatment of widow Irene, played by Downton Abbey star Lesley Nicol, and beautician Janice introducing a shady new business starts! Will the shock arrival of old flame Sophie (Cold Feet star Hermione Norris) make him turn his back completely?

Episode 5: Wednesday October 5th
To say that Louisa Ellingham is surprised to find her father far away in her kitchen making a cup of tea is an understatement! The child counselor hasn't seen father Terry Glasson in years and given his checkered past, she's worried about his return to Portwenn! When Terry last showed up in the village, he was planning a robbery. This time it looks like Terry (Kenneth Cranham of Good Karma Hospital) is really sick. But this puts Louisa's family doctor husband in a difficult position, since after examining Terry, the doctor is obliged to maintain patient confidentiality. Unable to tell Louisa (Caroline Catz) what's wrong with her father, the Doc is forced to keep his father-in-law's secrets. But it looks like the truth may be out when Aunt Ruth, a seasoned criminal psychiatrist, finds out that Terry was released from prison on compassionate grounds and pays him a visit. "Ruth has never met Terry before and is immediately suspicious of him. She's after him," reveals Dame Eileen Atkins, 88, who plays Ruth. "She's investigating Terry! I enjoyed it because I've known Ken Cranham forever. It's nice to play with an old friend!”
Meanwhile, Bert Large's latest money-making scheme is destined to end in disaster, but as usual, he doesn't let it stop him! There are explosive consequences as he attempts to force squatter Ross out of a prized vintage trailer. Has irresponsible Bert finally gone too far?

Episode 6: Wednesday October 12th
Doctor Martin Ellingham's relationship with child counselor Louisa has had its ups and downs over the years and this week the couple is being tested like never before when his ex Sophie Trent makes a move! Trouble begins when Louisa and Martin attend a prestigious medical conference in London, where Portwenn's GP is the speaker. Counselor Sophie, played again by Hermione Norris from Cold Feet, is also invited and immediately starts causing trouble among the Ellinghams...
"It's amazing how Doc and Louisa's relationship has evolved. They're always at odds," laughs Caroline Catz, who plays Louisa. "They don't always connect!"
The couple's misunderstandings come to a head over an aperitif when Sophie reveals that Louisa is the case study for the Doc's speech... This is all new to Louisa, who is horrified that her husband is talking about her troubled uterus in her womb and slides of it shows his guts! Later, after drinking too much, Sophie blurts out that Martin broke her heart when they were medical students and she's going through a painful divorce. Initially, Louisa is sympathetic. Later, however, she feels very different when she finds Sophie and Martin in a compromising position. Pushed to her limits, Louisa demands answers!
"Louisa has a gentleness but also a strength at the same time," jokes Caroline. "I can't believe we're closing the book on these characters. We worked really hard to keep it fresh.”
Does that mean the Doc harbors insidious feelings for Sophie? Or is his love for Louisa still strong?

Episode 7: Wednesday October 19th
When it comes to wreaking havoc, Bert Large is the poster child for Doc Martin's DIY disaster. This week, in a nod to the first episode he featured Dr. Desperate handyman Martin Ellingham enrages his ex Caitlin (Angela Curran) by damaging the pipes at his pub, The Crab and Lobster, and flooding the basement. So when he tries to fix the situation, it ends up getting worse! “Bert has gotten in so much trouble over the years. He made everyone sick selling contaminated bottled water, flooding the office and all sorts of other things," laughs Ian McNeice, 72, who plays him.
There's more drama for the extended family this week as Chris and Helen Parsons (Vincent Franklin and Beth Goddard) face serious trouble in the tide pools. Bet's son Al and his wife Morwenna make a daring rescue with a little help from Doc!
But for Bert, disasters are piling up. In order to solve the problem, she insists on hiring local plumber Bob Jackson, played by comedian Stephen Frost, but even he isn't sure about Bert's ability to make a bad situation worse. The hapless merchant is eventually injured by Bert and cannot work...
"Bert has a heart of gold, apart from screwing it up," says Ian, who jokes that this could be the end of the road for the newly separated couple. "Caitlin and Bert were very close, but it all fell apart on this show. She kicked him out and he lives in the trailer park. I will miss playing such an extraordinary character. "
Will Caitlin finally wash her hands off Bert once and for all? Or can the pair kiss and reconcile before the final episode next week?

Filming Doc Martin in Port Isaac, Cornwall

The enormous popularity ofDr. Martinbrought thousands of tourists to the pretty village of Port Isaac and surrounding areas on the north Cornish coast to see where the series is filmed and all the local attractions that made it famousDr. Martin. This upsurge in tourism has been recognized by Cornwall Tourism, who have given the team at Doc Martin a special award for their outstanding contribution to tourism. Over the years, Buffalo Pictures has made regular contributions to Port Isaac's village funds. The funds were used by residents to fund and support a range of local charities.

The first seven series ofDr. Martinwas produced locally in seven countries worldwide - UK, Germany, France, Greece, Netherlands, Czech Republic/Slovakia and Spain - and the drama has been sold to a total of 138 countries.
